Anembryonic pregnancy
Longer post but will do my best to summarize
I had my first ultrasound yesterday at 8weeks exactly. I have three other children so I’m pretty familiar with ultrasounds. I could tell right away something was wrong as I couldn’t see a baby. The tech was very nice but was quiet the whole time. At the end she explained as much as she could before getting the doctor on call. The doctor came in and explained I might have an anembryonic pregnancy as I have a gestational sac, but no baby. She told me she doesn’t want to give me false hope, but also that she doesn’t want to give me a lot of hope, and that we are in a real grey area. She immediately took me to the lab to test my HCG levels. I got results today and they were 7,054 which according to the chart they attached it lands me on the high end of 5 weeks. I go in again tomorrow morning for my second HCG test and will hopefully have results Sunday morning. I have an appointment with my OB on Monday to go over everything.
I have never experienced this before.. so I am wondering for those of you who have, what should I expect? Would you share your stories? If this turns out to be a non-viable pregnancy what was the best method for you (natural miscarriage, pill, D&C)
Thank you.
