Can people really change?

Question

If you have ever cheated, did you regret it and changed for the one you wanted or if you have ever been cheated on, did you give them a second chance and it was actually successful?

I think it's possible if the person is willing to take action(not talking the talk, but walking the walk) and change, but let's not kid ourselves, it's going to be hard to get the trust of your partner back to 100%

I never regret anything I have done in my past. When I was young I cheated because I thought I had feelings for someone but they weren't everything I wanted. I know it sounds wrong but I was young. It made sense to me then. I have been cheated on and gave the person more chances. Nothing was ever the same. It was always trust issues. It was my fault first because I cheated first but it is what it is. Can't change it.

someone who has cheated can change if they want to. it all depends on them honestly, but it’s definitely hard to trust a cheater again bc you’re paranoid and think they are still doing you wrong and all these things. you don’t fully get over it tbh, you can “forgive” but not forget what was done.

Ehhh kinda given a second chance? About a week after my current SO and I made things official, we got in a huge fight on the phone (I don’t even remember what about lol)  I said “I’m done” and hung up on him. He took that as “our relationship is over”. I meant “I’m done with this conversation”. We didn’t talk for a few days, and he reinstalled dating apps and matched with a couple people. When I reached out to him to tell him I was calm and ready to talk about the argument, he was super confused. Basically it was me being super immature and not communicating what I really needed. He thought we were broken up, I thought I just needed some space to calm down. 
I also had an ex cheat on me with a minor. That asshole definitely didn’t get a second chance.
