Saw this poll online : If your husband left you for his mistress, and he genuinely apologizes, would you FORGIVE HIM? (Read below)

Say if you thought you had a Ok marriage, but find out your husband has been cheating on you with his mistress. You tell him to end things but he said he's leaving you for her..he tells you he only married you because you got pregnant, and his mistress is the LOVE of his life.
They end up getting married soon after y'all divorce and have a great marriage - no reports of cheating or abuse. In fact, around town, everyone has been saying how happy he is w/ his new wife. Meanwhile, the divorce emotionally devastated you...and you haven't been able to find a new love.
After the dust sells, your ex-husband apologizes with all his heart that he hurt you and wish it didn't come to this and wishes you well. You forgiving him?? Forgive meaning accept his apology.

You should forgive everyone for what they do to you. Not for them but for you . Letting shit go and being okay is the best for your own health . But nah wouldnt be taking him back at all

I'd tell him to F off. Him coming to me after the fact and apologizing looking for me to forgive him would be to soothe his guily conscious, so he can have the amazing life he wants with someone else and at my expense and on my back.
I would go on with my life and do the work I need to do in order to heal my heart, but to tell him "I forgive you"....no. You would be a fool to let someone off the hook that way.

I would forgive his apology, because I do believe people can change to an extent. If his mistress, now wife, truly was someone he loved and he only married me because I got pregnant, then he made poor choices but it wasn’t necessarily out of malice. 
My mom was the mistress in a similar situation with her now-husband and she and her husband’s ex are friends now.

Well you have a child together so you have to be civil at least for the baby. I wouldn’t forgive him but I’d at least be civil for the kid.

I don’t know - it would definitely take time if I could, but what they did was really messed up. Like they spent *years* lying to you saying they loved you, they married you and made you think that you were the one, only to cheat on you and drop you as soon as it wasn’t convenient for them to keep the lie going anymore. Then to tell me the only reason they did all of it was for our child? Like I would never be with someone just bc we had a child together - I’d rather coparent than settle. They didn’t even let you make your own decision though and chose to spend years playing with your feelings and lying to you. 
Then they only want to apologize and wish you well now that they’re perfectly happy. Like he should have done that years ago, way before the marriage, and wished them well then. But essentially he used her as a back up plan until he found what he really wanted (by cheating on her) and the amount of deceit and carelessness that takes for another person is astounding. 
So I really don’t know if I could forgive them for what they did. I’m sure I’d move on and be okay eventually, even glad that the truth came out, but I think I would always harbor some resentment towards them

I wouldn’t forgive. Every day being married was a chance for him to end the marriage. He could’ve manned up but decided to take the coward’s way out. Nobody deserves being cheated on. He could be the best man in the world to his new partner and family but he is an awful human being just for cheating. Every day cheating is a day lying. That’s at least two wrongs per day for hundreds of days. My heart would never forgive that.
