Literally had an argument with my mom about freaking rice cereal. I plan on skipping it and she went on and on how I needed to do that before purées because its easier on their tummy. I’m like 🙄 I’ve already raised one kid and she turned out just fine. I always tell my mom “wow idk how I manage to keep my kids alive without you here all the time telling me what to do” 🤣

I’m soooooo glad I’ve yet to receive any unsolicited advice other than some family members saying I’m going to have to take my son out in public eventually. First of all I don’t have to do anything except care for my son how I see fit and two he’s immunocomprised right now because of medication he’s taking so there’s no way in hell I’m taking him out during a pandemic unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Lmao that annoyed me just reading it. Rice cereal literally has no nutrition and has been linked to health issues later on lol. If you want to start feeding him purées and stuff at 4 months that is ur business lol. But she looks like the one that needs more research. There is soooo much outdated info our parents and grandparents have so literally so much of their “advice” is not as helpful as they think lmao. 
My mom told me she fed me rice cereal mixed in my formula when I was 6 weeks old!!!! Lmao I said no wonder I’m overweight hahaha. And her mother fed her HEAVY CREAM W/ KARO CORN SYRUP. Lmao like wtf.

They only know what they knew when they had kids and what they find on the internet. I told my mom and my sister (her kids are 8) and they were like “why are you giving her oatmeal? It should be rice cereal!” ... well the doctor told us to start with oatmeal because she needed the calories so that’s what we are doing. They’re also adamant about me using Gerber or BeechNut purées when I want to make my own, or at least TRY to make my own. 
My sister also thinks I should be letting her watch tv all day because “the colors and lights are good for them” 😑 you’d think the fact that her 8 year olds are OBSESSED with screens and can’t focus on their school work would make her realize that shoving babies in front of the tv for hours on end is a bad idea. 
I just politely disagree and change the subject.

I literally gave my first cereal (oatmeal) way too early at 4 months because both Grandmas were pushing it and I was worried they were going to just give it to her when I was at work and I would miss out on her first meal. This time putting my foot down we are doing BLW and if by some chance that changes we will let them know what to feed him.
