Best age gap between kids 1 & 2?

My first born is almost 6 months old (Feb 20). I’m trying to figure out which age gap is better so I know when to start trying for #2!

I wish I would’ve timed it so u won’t have 2 in diapers, 2 in a crib, 2 in a high chair, etc...but life happens lol my Vote would be 3 years apart so u aren’t forced into transitioning out of all those things before the older child is ready.

We originally aimed for 3 years apart, but multiple miscarriages has us currently looking at a 5 year age gap. My brother and I are 5 years apart, and it was pretty great. 😀

As you’re only 6 months pp, you definitely shouldn’t start trying for at least another 6 months. They recommend giving your body 12-18 months between pregnancies. I’d personally wait at least until 9 months - your body was changing for 9 months, you want to give yourself at least that long for it to heal and rebalance. 
Other than that, there isn’t really a “best” age gap. That will depend on you and your family - what works for you and for someone else could be completely different. I’m having my first in March, and would like to wait until he’s 3 to have another. So I guess that would be 2 under 4? That gives us a chance to settle into being parents, time for me to work on my career, time to adjust financially and hopefully buy a house, but they still would be relatively close in age. I just turned 24, so for me I feel like I have time and would rather spend the next few years advancing my career and building a better foundation for us as a family. If we decide to have a third (depending on how long it took us to conceive #2) I probably would want to have them closer together, and would probably aim for 2 and 3 to only be a year apart.

My sister and I are 2 3/4 years apart in age. Personally, I think that’s the best age gap. She and I were super close as kids and are still really close as adults.

My girls will be 1.5 years apart my first is in a toddler bed though has been since she turned 1 and has started potty training & shes super smart and talks very well I know its gonna be a little stressful but excited for them to be close in age

I got pregnant 18mpp from my first. They’re 2yr 3 months apart. I wouldn’t do it any closer imo.

It depends on what you mean by "better." I do not believe there is a definitive better. There are pluses and minuses to different scenarios. I have 4 kids and they're all 21 months - 2.5 years apart. Positives are that they are very close, play easily together, have similar interests and schedules especially the older 2 and the younger 2. It was really hard at first, but now is actually easier because they keep each other busy. Hand me down clothes and baby products was also easier with less time between them. We roomshare which is easier closer in age.  Negatives are, child care costs if you don't stay home and your oldest isn't in kindergarten or VPK yet, dealing with pregnancy while having high maintenance care for a toddler (can be tiring or lead to impatience with the toddler), added cost and work of 2 kids in diapers, etc. So it really depends on your circumstances and what you want.
