Gas IS pain relief
Does anyone else get annoyed when people say they've had no pain relief in labour when they've actually had gas/entonox/nitrous oxide+oxygen? I feel like they want to allude that they've had an unmedicated birth when they actually haven't.
I'm not saying that everyone should go completely unmedicated as everyone's pain tolerance is different and you aren't "less" just because you've chosen to have pain relief.
I prefer going completely unmedicated while birthing because:
• It helps me feel in control (a huge necessity for me due to sexual trauma as both a child & teen) & feel everything/natural cues
• my beliefs are that pregnancy is a natural process & birthing to me is no different, plus
• no risks to baby (like fetal distress, respiratory depression) & much less likely to need interventions
