My daughters doctor said that there’s no nutritional value and if I wanted to, not before 6 months.

Our 4 month checkup is next week and dr will ok us for purées. Science says 6 months is better tho. 6 months if you plan on baby led weaning for sure tho. 
I don’t use cereal. It has no nutritional value, and there’s a ton of other options that do hold many benefits for babies. 
The only time I feel like cereal should be used is when trying (by drs recommendation) to treat acid reflux, but to each their own. 
It’s not harmful, it’s just not beneficial. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I always steam and purée some veggies and fruits and then freeze and thaw as needed, but you can buy purées at the grocery that are perfectly fine.

Not until 6 months because it reduces the risk of choking and also their little tummies aren't as developed and ready before 6 months. The early starting of rice cereal thing is pretty outdated advice and not used by most doctors anymore (unless there is some reflux issue) If you're going to feed baby something, it should be nutrient dense. Otherwise you're just taking away space for vitamins by filling them up with filler food like rice cereal. A good one to start with is sweet potato. It's usually liked by most babies because it's sweet and it is one of the most nutrient dense vegetables. I blended it with breastmilk and gave it to my son when he was 6 months and he loved it! It's still one of his favorite foods at 3yrs.

We have our 4 month checkup Saturday where the dr will probably give the go ahead for baby cereal and starting on baby food fruits. I usually mix the baby cereal and fruit together within each bite.
