Does this look infected?

Does this look infected to you guys? I’ve been cleaning it with a q-tip and alcohol twice a day. We’ve also been trying our best to fold her diaper down as much as we can but sometimes it does and I feel bad. It does have a weird smell but it’s not like a very bad foul smell. Should I call the doctor?

I don't think so but I've always been told to not use anything to clean it and to just keep it dry 😊

It looks normal to me. But don’t put anything on it, it needs to completely dry out.

If smelling wired and fluid coming from it better to show it to doctor just to make sure ur baby is ok.

DO NOT USE ANYTHING TO “CLEAN IT”. You’re to leave it as is. It does look flared, I would schedule pediatrician asap.

I wouldn’t use alcohol! My doctor said only water then a dry q tip after only one time a day.

My sons one looked like that also, when we washed him we wet it and everything, drying it afterwards obviously but my midwife said it was fine. We use to cover it with his nappy so his clothes didnt get dirty from it and so we couldnt smell it. But your babys belly button also looks fine to me 😊

I would call to be sure. We had our first newborn appt and the Dr. Didnt like how it looked and said there was a bit of fluid. We honestly didnt even think anything looked off but better to have a professional look.

I personally don’t think it looks infected. I was told the skin around the belly button would start to become red and spread out of there was infection as well as a fever. I was also told not to put anything on it at all and to keep it dry. My daughters got super black and it also bled and looked like this and fell off at 2 1/2 weeks. She is 4 weeks now. Definitely ask your doctor at the follow up appt if you have any concerns though.
