Do you think it’s gross/weird to buy baby stuff second hand?

I’m talking like a crib/bassinet, stuff like that? If the person had no pets/didn’t smoke... is that kinda stuff kinda iffy to buy like on Facebook marketplace second hand? FTM and I don’t know what to buy new VS used.

No, it just depends on what it is- for most things you want to make sure it’s not more than two years old- some items that are generally safe used, but make sure you do checks for functionality and proper use:
- crib (make sure it’s not a drop side and newer than 2015)
-stroller (needs to be 2yrs or newer)
- changing table 
- baby toys (check for recalls and hazards)
- swings
-monitor
- baby gates
- play yards (past 2015)
- clothes
What to buy new, always
-car seat
-infant mattress
- breast pump
There’s more than the above, but those are the most common ones

I have done this with all my babies except this pregnancy! But because of the virus only. I decided to buy everything new. The used clothes he will be using were his brothers only.

I would be in debt of we didn't buy second hand or got second hand from friends. 😆 
Crib was new and car seat was new. 
But we got a bassinet, swing, bouncers from friends.
Rocking chair, changing table, clothes from thrift stores.

I love buying second hand. The only thing I won’t is cloth toys (because old slobber may not come out) or something like that. But if it’s washable I’ll gladly do second hand. I got my crib for a steal. After my first I ended up sanding it and re staining it and it looks brand new. I wouldn’t have been able to afford buying everything brand new, and that’s even considering we have minimal baby stuff.

The only second hand things we use are from family only. We can buy everything new but it seems to be a waste because some things are only used for a short period of time.

No not at all - save that money where you can. Our crib was given to us second hand, it’s still in amazing condition. I bought a lot of clothes off Facebook marketplace for next to nothing and they’re in great condition. There are a few things I won’t use second hand, like nursing pillows, but things like furniture and clothes are great to get used as you’ll save a ton of money

Almost everything we have is second hand mostly from friends and family but some we’ve purchased used. The only big things we bought new was our car seat because we wanted that new, high chair and monitor because no one had them to hand down, and bottles because our kids didn’t like the brand that was handed down. Our pack and play, crib, swing, bouncer, jumper, exersaucer, more clothes than our child could ever wear and more toys than we have space for were all handed down along with a whole slew of other stuff (spoons, bowls, bottle warmer, nursing cover, etc). Basically people who were done having kids cleared out their basements for us. Now that we’re done having kids, we’re doing the same and passing it along to the next family member.
