What day past ovulation is it best to take a pregnancy test?

Hi ladies I am new to this app, I’m 23 and my husband and I decided to start trying. I took a pregnancy test today (11 DPO). I got a negative and my heart broke, when would be the best time or day to take a test.

I got my first positive around 14 dpo but I waited till 2 days late af

Personally I didn’t get my faint positive till I was 13dpo which was 2 days before my period was supposed to start, I have a long cycle though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
