Why is a pregnancy test not valid after 10 mins?

Why is a pregnancy test not valid after 10 mins? I took a test on Wed one day before my period. I threw out the test after 5 mins because it was negative. I have not started my period and am now 4 days late. Dug the test out of the trash. It looks very positive. I looked up evaporation lines and I'm 99% positive it is NOT an evaporation line.

Take another test! When I took first test it didn't show anything I placed it on nightstand, and took a nap when I woke up it was positive.  I'm now 33 weeks pregnant with a lil boy.

Because tests evap, with color..... Just take another, it's been 5 days, if you're pregnant it'll be positive.

If you look at it after the allotted time, it can be a false positive or an evap line so its not to be trusted. I had it happen to me last year and I was indeed not pregnant. Started that same day.

Because the box says so? We aren't the manufacturers so I'm not sure anyone knows why that limit is there.

Ur suppose to wait 5 mins for it to fully show up and if it still says positive go but another test should give u the true answer
