I have a hard time with this one too. Ever since my baby discovered her hands they’re always in her mouth so I can’t go by that. I started watching the clock tho and after about 3 hours if she wasn’t fussy I’d kind of just study her. I realized that before she gets hangry and starts crying she starts smacking her lips and sticking her tongue out a lot. At that point I discovered I’ve got about 10 mins to make a bottle before she starts getting fussy.

The hand to mouth and the rooting are the ones I always look for if she starts getting really fussy she’s overly hungry and at that point she’ll need calmed down before nursing or feeding. Personally I nurse every 2-3 hrs and watch for those cues incase she gets hungry before then.

Lately I’ve been getting confused whether she wants feed or pacifier. I just try both and see what she wants. Sometimes she just needs to be burped. This happens if she is not fed properly. Her feed intake has gone up but at times she only wants and oz sometimes more. So we are going on demand. This happens in the morning and evenings. Other times she is right on cue.
