Can I get an induction on a specific day?

Question

This might sound shallow BUT can I get induced on a specific day of my choosing? My baby’s father is allowed 2 days off for my labor. So he was wondering if I can get induced the week (kind of, it’s like 5 days prior) before my due date because he has a day off on a Saturday & was hoping I’d go into labor on Wednesday night so he can be there & have the next 3 days off. 
Hopefully that doesn’t sound bad?? I’m just wondering, I’m not really sure how any of this works? I’m a ftm

In my area they don't let you pick the day (I just asked yesterday), you get out on a list starting at 39 weeks if you want to

My OB let me pick a day to be induced as long as i was at least 39 weeks. I asked for induction because my husband is a truck driver & we wanted to make sure he would be here. I went into labor 4 days before my scheduled induction though😅 luckily my husband was home anyway

My hospital won’t allow an elective induction but there’s no harm in asking.

That’s a question specific to your doctor. I’ve heard some doctors will do elective inductions at 39 weeks. My OB will not do an elective induction until minimum 40 weeks. So you need to ask your doctor to be sure.

It doesn’t sound bad at all. I totally get that however, you could be induced and it take days for baby to come. I was already 3.5 cm when I was induced and still took almost an entire day for baby to come. My friend it took 3 days. But you can always request.
