Corona vaccine

Li
Lisa

Hey!! I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. I asked my doctor about the vaccine and thinks I should get it because our immune system is compromised and if I do get Covid it. Could be bad. With the vaccine it would be less severe. Not sure what to do. Has anyone gotten it?

A lot of other countries that have rolled out vaccines have put very strict guidelines that say no pregnant woman or lactating woman should be vaccinated. Sometimes it seems we are a little shot happy, especially with pregnant women here in the US.

I am a NICU nurse and we have seen a lot of babies (whose moms had covid during pregnancy) who are being born with issues we didn’t see often prior to covid.

I am 17 weeks. I got my first shot at 15 weeks and the second will be on Monday. You need to weight your own personal risks/benefits. Everyone is different. Best of luck!

I mean, it’s a personal decision. Based on how knew the very nature of this vaccine is and the limited evidence on how effective or dangerous it could be, especially in pregnancy, I’m not willing to risk getting it personally. I also already had Covid while pregnant. It was literally only 2 days of mild flu-like symptoms for me, and then loss of taste and smell for like a week. So for me it wasn’t worth the risks when the disease itself wasn’t that hard on me.

I’m 17 weeks and got my first dose. Me and baby are fine. I my doctor talked about how pregnant women who get covid are more likely to be hospitalized. That convinced me.

Food poisoning and the flu don’t cause coma, pneumonia or chronic lung issues. You do what you think is best for you 🤷🏽‍♀️

Just depends how your body reacts to a sickness

You can literally get hospitalized for any sickness. Food poisoning while pregnant. The flu. A cold. There’s literally so many things LOL

I have seen a lot of pregnant doctors and nurses getting the vaccine. Personally, I would go with what my doctor suggests. But there are other things to consider: what are the rates in your community, what is your risk of exposure, do you have any other risk factors that would make Covid more severe for you (besides being pregnant). From what I have read about the vaccine, I don’t see how there would be vaccine side effects that are worse than getting Covid (especially the possibility of long Covid symptoms), but that’s just me. I’m pro- vaccine generally anyways.

Talk to your medical team. If in doubt get another opinion. Strangers on an app cannot answer that for you.

Noooope. World health organization put out a statement saying preggo women should not get it if they do not work in healthcare. I asked my doctor and she even said wait!!

My doctor said risk of COVID (since I am pregnant and a teacher) is higher than any risk of the vaccine. Pregnant women were excluded from clinical trials so there isn’t official data but thousands of pregnant women have gotten the vaccine at this point and there is no evidence of any bad effects. You have to weigh your personal risk, it sucks because no matter what you decide you are taking a risk.

I am 17 weeks, got the vaccine two weeks ago and am doing great.

Personally I will not be getting the vaccine. They have no idea if it can cause short term or long term problems with you or your baby. I have read that it isnt recommended for nursing or pregnant women.

It's still in the testing phase until 2022 and doesn't have FDA approval
