Chronic insomnia HELP
Hey ladies,
Im curious if anyone has gone through the same thing. After post partum anxiety and not getting enough sleep with my son he finally started sleeping through the night in October 2020. Since then I still haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve been diagnosed with chronic insomnia. I get 5-6 hours sleep with Trazodone but only got 3-5 hours before. I can fall asleep but can’t stay asleep. I usually wake up between 2-4 and I’m awake all day. It’s affecting my ability to work, my relationships, and my parenting.
Here is what I’ve tried:
- blood work for thyroid and hormone levels normal with low iron (added a supplement)
- I go to therapy and feel I am successfully managing my anxiety
- I have tried cortisol managing supplements, melatonin, sleeping pills
- am now on Trazodone which helps me get ~5 hours sleep
-I wind down before bed, low lights, less screen time, no sugar after lunch, no caffeine, I meditate, my room is blacked out, I use a weighted blanket, room is a good temperature
I’m at a total loss. I was always a light sleeper but would be in bed 8-9 hours. I’m scared of how much I’m becoming used to getting 5-6 hours sleep. We want to have another baby and I don’t feel I should until I rest my body more.
