Overweight and TTC
Hi everyone! I just wanted some opinions here. The husband and I have decided to start trying for baby number 2. However, I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life. I lost the baby weight after the baby but after taking antidepressants due to PPD, I just started putting on the weight and haven’t done anything since. I do blame COVID just a lil bit. But I digress. So, the OBGYN who delivered my first baby was very judgy regarding her patients’ weight. She always made comments about diet (ended up on a diet anyway due to GD). And not only that, her Yelp page is very active of prior patients who have said she made them feel uncomfortable and they felt judged and unsupported due to their weight; she was claimed to make rash suggestions at birth plans due to it. Despite this, her reviews remain pretty good overall. She was a great doctor for the most part, a little busy and rushing sometimes. She had 2 practices and delivered A LOT of babies. Anyway, I’m worried because I’m bigger than I was before and very self-conscious about it and I’m not sure I can handle a doctor who is largely adamant about not being overweight and pregnant. I’m not saying this is a bad thing because I know doctors would be concerned about health too but I’m kinda feeling scared to go with her again should I get pregnant this year. Has anyone had this experience? Are all doctors like this? Should I consider a different OB?
