Can someone enlighten me

I noticed my discharge had a foul smell, fishy odor to be exact and very itchy feeling down there, i went to see a doctor took a papsmear test and the result is candida albicans, is that classified as a std? the doctor inserted a tablet in my vagina and gave me an ointment for the itchness. after 2 weeks the fishy odor occurs again.. and again i went to the doctor inserted some tablets. i noticed that whenever i had sex with my boyfriend the odor occurs after a week.. is the candida albicans transmittable? TIA
