Induction fear.. update and shocking twist

So I posted yesterday that I was fearful for my induction.

I got to the hospital at 7pm and they started me with cytotec. All was going well, I also got a covid swab and they told me all my options for pain relief. I knew I wanted an epidural for sure!

So the cytotec is doing it’s work, I’m having some mild contractions and my nurse comes in in full PPE. I ask him, why do you have all that on? He says “you have covid”! WTF! You guys. I’ve been tested every week for my job and never had covid. I stopped working 3 weeks ago. I am completely asymptomatic. I started crying immediately worried about people I may have exposed. I’ve been to target, I’ve been to the oncology center for my infusions where people who are obviously high risk go, and I’ve seen my grandma. So now my heart rate is skyrocketing into the 140s and my nurse is like calm down. But I can’t.

So then he inserts the second cytotec a bit later and I start having insane contractions. I get my epidural and my blood pressure drops to 70/40 and we can’t get it up with meds and fluids. I had to have two 1L saline bolus and some meds. Finally it’s back up to 90/50 and I can push! Baby came in 5 contractions at exactly 9lb. 12 hours from start of induction to finish.

All in all it went well besides the covid thing.
