Rice Cereal (4mo) where to begin?

Question

Those of you who did begin things like rice & oatmeal cereal.. how did you start it ? 
Did you wait for approval from doctor, did you just start it on your own, what ways Did you incorporate it into babies feedings ?

I started my son on rice cereal at about 3 months in the bottle because he had severe reflux. With pediatrician recommendation and knowledge. With his reflux getting better we're starting to introduce some solids like the oatmeal or rice cereal in a bowl with a spoon now. But itl take time for him to get use to it. We only put about a Tbsp in his bottle with 5 oz of formula.

I waited for the doctor to give us the go ahead. Started rice cereal at 4 months. 1X a day with water in a sippy cup. I usually give it to her around dinner time. She does really well with it. She is a good eater - loves food. Always trying to reach for our food.

Your baby will tell you when they're ready. When they show interest, they've lost that tongue thrust thing, and they seem hungry after eating. They say *food before one is just for fun* so there's no rush to start feeding. 
When baby shows signs, start with a suuuuper runny grain cereal, mostly Breastmilk or formula. Most of it will end up on their face. 
My daughter started to show signs pretty early. She is also a pretty big baby  With my son, I waited until he was 6 months. My pediatrician mentioned it at the 4 month session this time, but really...just go with your baby's signs.

We started with oatmeal. Doctor gave approval at 4 months and we started a couple days later. I didn’t want to do the rice cereal since his formula has added rice starch and I felt like that was too much rice. 
He got bored of the oatmeal after two days and we tried green beans. He HATED them. He absolutely loves sweet potatoes. We tried peas and he loved them but broke out in a rash so we are steering clear unfortunately. My little guy just loves to eat! We only do it once or twice a day for now.

I waited until her doctor gave the okay. We started with rice cereal twice a day, and fed her until she didn't want to eat anymore. We use a spoon though not with the bottle. I do half a tablespoon of rice cereal and 2 tablespoons of breastmilk. We are in week one and she hasn't totally gotten the hang of it yet.
