So it has always been my dream (since age 9) to join the military and my boyfriend (of 4 years) has always known that. When we first got together he made it clear that he wasn't a big fan of the idea but he would be supportive. I am now 19 and currently in the enlistment process. Ever since I took the ASVAB he has been acting very weird. Before we got together my plan was to enlist and go 20 years active service as a career in the U.S. Army, but throughout our relationship it is turned into 6 years reserves. When I first started changing my plans he told me that he didn't want to be the reason that I didn't go after my dreams, but every time I mention enlisting he tries to talk me out of it. We were long-distance for the first two years of our relationship and I don't want to do that again, but at the same time I refuse to give up my dream of being in the army. I don't know what I should do! We both really want to start a family but he doesn't want me gone all the time and leave him and the kids. I really need advice from anybody who is currently serving, has served, or is a MILSO them self. Please Help!
