Progesterone does not work.....?

I was put on Progesterone with all my pregnancies as I have had miscarriages in the past. They have told me It may have been caused by such low hormone levels. This time I had an allergic reaction to it and broke out in a rash so I was told to stop taking it. Of course I cried and told them now I really fear a miscarriage, but was told by the doctor that progesterone is NOT a proven fact that it helps prevent miscarriages. Then why would they put me on it every time?? Anyone else ever been told that it won't help (especially for those who was going to miscarry regardless.)

I have luteal phase defect so progesterone does prevent unnecessary miscarriages for me. I had three miscarriages, then I started taking progesterone 3 days after ovulation and now I have a 4 year old daughter, 7 month old son and I’m pregnant with twins.

It’s not proven. My doctor told me after my second miscarriage that if I googled it, I’d find all the research saying it doesn’t help. But he also said I will find so many women who swear by it. My third pregnancy (including progesterone for the first trimester) resulted in my beautiful daughter so I’ll forever swear by it. Instead of crying, ask questions. Can you take progesterone in a different way? (Pill, compound, etc?)Can you do a few rounds of bloodwork to confirm your levels are increasing?Any other options given your medical history?

I’m taking a progesterone compound because I’ve had 3 miscarriages. I had 2 before having my daughter and we tried progesterone first trimester and she’s now 1.5. Had another one in December so figured I’d ask to do it again. Mentally, it really helped me knowing we were doing something to **try** and help. It can’t hurt.

Did you not have allergic reactions to it previously? That’s what seems weird to me!

This is why I was so upset when he took me off. It at least mentally helps me through it and gives me more hope.

You should try taking sunflower seeds and sesame seeds for a natural progesterone intake! There’s this thing called “seed cycling”, where you take certain seeds depending on which hormone needs balancing (estrogen or progesterone).Just found out I’m pregnant so I think I’m going to take all 4 seeds to keep both hormones up, but for the last 4-5 cycles I’ve practiced seed cycling and I know for a FACT it worked. You take flax/pumpkin seeds for estrogen, then switch to sunflower/sesame for progesterone. Every month I could literally feel the effects of all the progesterone in the 2nd half of my cycle (super heavy boobs, etc). You should research it, it worked wonders for my hormone balance and it’s alllll natural. Good luck mama!

It helps those in which progesterone is the issue. Many women miscarry for multiple other reasons in early pregnancy where progesterone wouldn’t help but equally nothing else could have helped or stopped the miscarriage
