babbling?

is your 5-6 month old babbling a lot? when did they start?
i have a 5 1/2 m/o and have read multiple sources that talk about how much she should be babbling.  she makes lots of sounds. and mimicks our mouths but she isn’t non stop babbling.

Mine does on and off throughout the day. And sometimes it’s babbling, sometimes he sounds like a pterodactyl, and other times it’s like he’s practicing beat boxing 😂

My baby basically whines all day, I wouldn’t call it babbling. She does make other noises like screeches when she’s happy, but not so much babbling. She used to grunt a ton so I’m happy that phase is over with!

From the second wakes up for about 2 hours straight then he’s quiet for a bit (when he’s eating and tired) then he’s chatty when he wakes up from naps for the first 30/45 mins then will only make sounds when he’s giggling laughing then he pure waffle for about an hour before he goes to sleep 
He’s said mumma and hiya (very clearly and always in the right context and a lot so is it’s not just sounds)

Yup, yapping away. Lots of yells, growls, and odd noises thrown in there. He does have quiet times too though
