Not in my situation no! If I had a relationship that ended on a good note, wouldn't mind checking in on my ex but that didn't happen.

I feel like yes if you're not planning on another relationship but once you're ready to move on with another you should respect your current partner enough to not be "friends" with your ex. My SO is not comfortable with me being friends with my ex for no fault of my own but I love him and respect it. It is not necessary.
