Migraines?

Hi all. I'm 18w, 5d with my 2nd and am considered advanced age/35. My blood pressure is good, I passed my [miserable!] 3-hour blood glucose screening. But I've started having headaches/possible migraines with what appear to be visual auras. *I'm working with my OB and have a neuro consult*, but am curious if anyone else has had this type of issue come up. I'm wondering if it has to do with some slight/intermittent swelling, since my carpal tunnel symptoms have already started too. Man... love this kid, but pregnancy is so not fun (for me at least).

me! I’m 16 weeks exactly and I get headaches and migraines at least 2 times a week. Sometimes they last all day or until I break down and have to take Tylenol. I thought they were just a pregnancy symptom since i didn’t get headaches that often before I got pregnant.

I’ve only ever had three migraines, and they were during my second pregnancy in late 2018. There was no pain involved. In fact I thought I was like having a damn stroke or something. My right hand started tingling and then it moved up my arm to my neck. I couldn’t say words and I was in a sort of daze. It was horrifying. I didn’t find out they were migraines until I got an MRI after baby was born. Basically my OB told me to take magnesium and drink more water. And not to stress, but I wasn’t even stressed 🤷🏻‍♀️ The neurologist called that type of migraine “transient aphasia”

I get chronic migraines, even before pregnancy but I can't take what normally helps me now because the little nugget. I've found that orange juice helps relieve my migraines alot, may even stick with it afterwards since it's better than pumping myself with NSAIDs and other crap lol. Not sure what it is about OJ but it's worth a try.

I had migraines last pregnancy and this one. 250 mg of magnesium has been huge for helping. I usually take 125-250mg a day and try to stay hydrated and take Tylenol if I feel them start to come on. I also found that if I use heat on my neck it helps as my muscles must get tight with my migraines as well. Some people like ice on their head or neck but since I got pregnant that seemed to make it worse not better for me.

I’ve had migraines with each pregnancy. Caffeine and Tylenol with an ice pack help and my doctor prescribed Tylenol 3 (with codeine) for when they get really bad. I’ve heard a combo of B6 and magnesium can also help.
