Try IUD after some bad luck with pills/injection?
I have always had ridiculously long, heavy periods. When I was 14 years old, I went to the doctor because I was having a 15 day long period, which was about average at the time. The doctor recommended a progesterone injection, but I had a horrible experience with it (one of the side effects is it can make your periods longer, so I ended up with almost nonstop bleeding for a whole year). Then, years later when my period was back to its regular long cycle, I had a doctor prescribe LoLoestrin Fe, which worked amazingly well! 4 day periods, right on schedule. Then, my insurance decided to stop covering it. I tried generic brands, but I had bad side effects with all of them (long periods, rashes, extreme irritability). My doctor is now suggesting an IUD such as Skyla or Mirena because of my insurance and to help with the heavy bleeding. I am just wondering if anyone had a similarly bad experience with pills or injections, and what are your experiences with IUDs? Are they better? Thank you!
