But wondering if anyone knows / can help. are the borders still closed? Like can someone from Mexico renew their visas right now? Because of COVID and all?

Not sure about renewing but the boarders are open.

Borders are not opened. Only essential traveling and those with citizenship can cross.

Only for emergency visas

I know in Canada and US you can but there’s a long wait time because of covid. Maybe call the Mexican border and ask.
