Is period sex safe?

Hi I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend last night around 3 am and this morning I got my period. I wasn’t bleeding before so I just wanted to know if he would get an infection at all should he shower? I started my birth control about a month ago and I had some light spotting but nothing major. Should he be okay I want him to be healthy.

He should shower, as hygiene is important. But no girl he won’t get an infection he will be completely fine! My husband and I have had unprotected sex many times while I have been on my period. Period sex honestly relives your cramps.
