Did your MIL change when you became pregnant?

Question

Unfortunately in my own personal experience and all my friends have had the experience of their mil going crazy when they became pregnant. 
What was your experience? And if your experience was negative, what do you think was the cause?

She makes more ridiculous comments, but luckily lives far away, so I don’t have to deal with her. She offered to come “help” for a month when the baby came, and I was like.. yeah, thanks but no thanks. I think keeping clear boundaries with her has been key. She tries to whine to my husband and he shuts it down.

She’s the same. She keeps her distance when necessary and is always helpful. I truly have an angel for a MIL. She is head of a dept at the hospital so I do ask her for advice or anything like that since she has experience with the general labs and whatnot!

I have had an amazing relationship with my MIL for the 10 years I’ve been with her son. She’s going through some personal stuff that has made her incredibly argumentative about every parenting choice we’ve decided to make since getting pregnant. She’s mad we’re planning to cloth diaper, she’s mad I’m planning to nurse the baby, keeps making comments about how all the responsibilities are on her son (were planning on my being a sahm). She thinks she gets a say on if we circumcise, and she’s already spoken out about my desire for another one close in age (claiming it’s too much expense for her son because of all the formula and disposable diapers, even though we’ve vocalized were doing cloth/going to try to nurse). 
After having an amazing relationship with her for years it’s devastating. She wants to just be negative about things that aren’t even pertinent to her (she lives 1500 miles away and will not be seeing our child more than a few times a year, let alone being worried about diaper changes or feeding him).

It’s just the comment she makes. It’s like she thinks she deserves things or to come over every day or something. Def not the worst thing she’s said, but a passive aggressive comment she made when my baby was like a month old, “well he should know me too”. This was bc I wanted my husband to hold the baby b4 her since he’d been working all day and hadn’t yet....Like ok, sorry lady, you aren’t the most important thing in his life. He’s a month old. He doesn’t really “know” anyone but me! 
She also says stupid stuff to my almost 12yr old [step]daughter, who would obviously tell me! The latest was “I think it’s crazy that I haven’t been able to babysit MY grandson”. Ummm, it’s a pandemic. I never go anywhere and I’m not going to just leave the house so you can babysit!! She’s like obsessed with needing to babysit. This wasn’t the 1st time it’s been mentioned. She sure the hell isn’t watching him over night if that’s her definition of babysitting. I just don’t understand why it’s like wrong of me, to her, to want to take care of my own child or why she needs to babysit?? He’s 6m in a few days. Maybe when he’s older. She also has a history of falling so I’m sorry that I’m not totally ok with him relying on her care for hours on end. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
I get that when my husband found out he had our older kids he took them to her house on his days and weekends and she helped him a lot. Sorry it’s not like that this time! Get over it! 
My own mother also died while I was pregnant so her complaints and stupidity really drive me mad. I’m taking notes of what not to do as a MIL. 😐🤣😅 Sorry about the ramble! 😆

She hasn’t, they haven’t contacted my husband in two years. He was really sick in the hospital, it was scary and they haven’t called to see how he is doing, nothing. 
And now that we are expecting she suddenly is trying to come back into our lifes like nothing happened 🙄 She wants to see her first grandchild 😂 
To late for that. We made it very clear our baby won’t even know her.

I'm waiting to see how my monster in law will react when we eventually have kids. Many years ago we were friends with an older couple and the girlfriend told me that her mother in law was exactly like mine (narcissist, didn't even talk to her, etc) but as soon as she became pregnant, her MIL was like her best friend.
Then when her husband died, her MIL went back to being a cow and stopped contacting both her and the child immediately.

She definitely changed and not for the better but it was more after the delivery of my daughter. She caused a huge scene not even hours after the birth of my daughter and continued to keep a bad attitude about things after that. Her and her husband (not my FIL) make snide comments all the time about that i dont want a csection for this birth (im 24 weeks pregnant) and that they refuse to comply with any of the visiting guidelines we have asked for (masks,updated tdap shots, etc.). Its gotten to the point where she has threatened to stop seeing the kids because she thinks its going to get her her way. I dont handle it anymore because im sick of her crap so my husband handles it. I refuse to see her or speak to her so it makes my life easier. She just cant accept that her son has another family in his life and she cant accept that she isnt his priority anymore.

Nope...she was still disrespectful. No change until 20 years into my marriage and finally seeing I wasn't going anywhere. Now we try to communicate more and she tries to be more respectful. It's not perfect but it's not horrible like it was in the beginning.

My boyfriends mom is AMAZING. She’s literally heaven sent. My mom on the other hand has went batshit crazy with both my pregnancies but not my brothers (and I’m the oldest 24).
