Nasal congestion scare

So we had a scare last night 😓 my baby is 10 days old today and last night was the worst night we’ve had since bringing him home. He was very fussy and struggling to go down to sleep and then all of a sudden it sounded like he couldn’t breathe and was only snorting out of his nose. My husband and I felt very panicked but luckily stayed calm and I grabbed the nasal suction device I have and was able to suction a large booger from his nose and instantly his breathing was much better. Has this happened to anyone and do you have any tips to minimize nasal congestion? I have a humidifier in the room. Thanks!
