Communication is a teachable skill so either they want to do it correctly or they don’t. There’s no reason a grown adult cannot speak up about things.

I mean this is how my husband is a lot of the time but its not a deal breaker because communication is something that can be worked on, can be fixed, and can improve. So no i wouldnt leave just because of that

Is this a new relationship? Does he recognize at all that there is room to improve the communication or that there is a break in communication? Is he actively trying to show any improvement? 
Theres a lot of questions to ask before just breaking things off.

That’s how the first year or so of dating my boyfriend went. It was hell for both of us but eventually we made it through and we both changed for the better. We’ve been together almost four years now. I think it depends on the person though. If he was still like that now, i would’ve reached my breaking point
