Why do people do gender reveals?

I know it's because they want to but I'm just curious why celebrate their gender when they're gonna grow up choosing anyways whether they are straight or not. Someone pls enlighten me.

Gender & sexuality aren’t the same at alllll. If my child grows up & wants to change their gender or they want to be a certain sexuality that’s fine with me but at the moment when I was carrying them that is what they were born, that’s a celebration for myself & our family to celebrate that child & discover their gender that was at that time.

1.) Gender and sexuality are two different things. Your argument makes absolutley no sense.
2.) People enjoy getting together and sharing milestones with one another. A gender reveal is a great way to get everyone in one spot and celebrate.
3.) Gender reveal cakes are usually yummy so theres that too.

Mm I think it’s just a way to celebrate a new baby with family and friends. I don’t like the idea of imposing restrictive gender roles on children but I think gender reveals are fine. Some people get a little carried away but as long as they don’t start a wildfire who cares

Because a) there's a difference between sexuality and gender and b) until such a time that the child decides how it wants to live, it's the parents prerogative to raise the child how they see fit and that includes celebrating how they want.

It’s for the family. Since baby can’t say what they want yet, the parents get to decide how to celebrate for now.
