Anyone take Acutane?

Just started my Acutane 10 days ago and I’m wondering does your acne get worse before it gets better? Also any tips and tricks you used to keep yourself from drying out (skin, lips, nose) mine are super dry and I continue to do everything my derm has told me. TIA ☺️

Like everyone else said, it does cause your skin to purge. Put Vaseline in your nose every night before bed. Bloody noses are very common on this drug & the best way to help that is to keep it as moisturized as possible. Also, aquaphor! Buy the ointment, not the sticks. The ointment is better quality (source: aquaphor drug rep) and you can purchase a good sized tube of it for pretty cheap. It’s good for lips, dry hands, everything. Moisturize your skin twice a day. Cetaphil & cerave work really well. Drink a ton of water, too! This is all the same advice I’d give patients when we prescribed them accutane. Good luck!! ♥️

I was on accutane in 2019 and took it from Jan-September. Mine got better and never got worse

Yes it will purge your skin. Make sure to apply aquaphor to your lips as much as you can. Mine got so chapped they would bleed :(( also keep track of how dry your skin is, you might need to lower the dosage if you’re peeling too much and it’s painful. Be careful with the sun, you can sunburn very easily since your skin is shedding so many layers and becomes very thin and fragile. I became very sensitive to moisturizers, certain chemicals would burn the shit out of my skin :((. I was on it for a couple of years and finally got off of it when my skin was clear, but my acne is now back to how it was before.
