Paraguard IUD Menstrual Cycle

Has anyone experienced shorter and lighter periods after having the copper IUD inserted? I was told that it would probably make my periods heavier and longer, but it seems that the opposite has happened. Not sure if that should be a cause for concern or not, so I figured I would see if anyone else has had the same experience as me.
