IVF - supplements query?

Hi all I've a query about taking coq10, folic acid etc in preparation for IVF. Is it a good idea to take these supplements before u start IVF process or is it best to avoid? Thanks

I started taking coq10 a few months before starting ivf, but stopped when I started my injections. No real reason, I just stopped. When you start ivf your doctor may give you a paper that says which vitamins they recommended and how much of each. If not, I would ask.

It taked 3 months to start to improve egg quality and ubiquinol or CoQ10 is often recommended.  (I read the book It Starts with the Egg)

Folic acid should really be taken all the time by all women who could potentially get pregnant, because it is SO critical for very early fetal development. CoQ10 helps egg quality, and needs to be taken 2-3mos in advance to have full effect. Just make sure your IVF doctor is aware of all supplements you’re taking, and they will advise if you need to make any changes, and also what to do post-retrieval/transfer.

I was actually advised to take OvaVite 3 months prior to our starting on this last round.  It’s not cheap but has all the vitamins your body needs to help produce the best quality eggs.  With doing it this round we got 5 good embryos which is more than we had gotten our prior rounds so worth the $140.  But I’d check with your RE before starting anything.
