When children are little they are incapable of thinking critically as they exist only in the concrete world. Yes they ask "why" but that is simply to gain an understanding of the concrete world around them.

The ability to think abstractly does not develop in the brain until, at the earliest and at the latest 17. As such when raised in a religion children at a young age are incapable of questioning any of thw religious teachings until quite near adulthood. Could indoctrinating children who are incapable of fully comprehending the information be a form of abuse?
