Can I add salt ?

My son is 6 months old, can I add a little bit of salt to his purée food that I make ? What about eggs? Doc said to start giving him eggs too

Don't add salt, it's not needed and it's hard on their kidneys. Use seasonings instead if you want to add more flavour

I never did but I added seasoning and flavors like nutritional yeast, garlic powder, cinnamon, Italian seasonings... my daughter has the best palette at 2.5. She loves flavor and I think that is because of what we fed her when she was young.

Sodium should be kept under 400 mg per day for kids under one. Keep in mind that the breast milk or formula that they get in a day will have around 200 mg, so other salt should be kept to a bare minimum. Too much sodium can be very dangerous for baby’s kidneys.

No salt and sugar, but hervs are ok. Like thyme, rosmary etc.

I’d say no. Think of it as you’re developing their palate. The more exposure to salt the more they’ll like and crave it as they get older. I’d say try your best to limit it and use other seasonings. Also, highly recommend following @solidstarts in IG, great resource.

I wouldnt since he is so young. Yes they need sodium but i would not ADD any salt to anything. I give my lo eggs and i used to put salt and pepper in the mixture prior to cooking and now i dont...i just salt my individual serving for myself.

I didn’t addd it to the baby food I made. When she eats what we eat I make no adjustments
