Shipt?
We subscribed to Shipt, and I absolutely hate it. My husband thought it was similar to Amazon Prime or something. It’s really more like Instacart, except they charge a subscription fee PLUS beg for a tip. And not only do they strongly encourage tipping, they expect so much! I ordered $60 worth of items from Target today, and it SUGGESTED I tip nearly $20! That’s crazy!
Am I crazy for thinking this is crazy? I guess I expect Shipt to use my subscription fee to pay a decent wage so I can tip a normal amount. We honestly don’t feel we should tip at all, but since it’s clearly expected, we do when we use the service. It just feels like tipping the Amazon Prime delivery driver.
Does anyone else use this service and think it’s ridiculous?
*I pay $99 a year for this service. I shouldn’t be expected to tip someone, let alone 30%. We wouldn’t have subscribed had we known, and we rarely use it. But, I just had a baby and we are in the midst of a snowstorm. Just saying, a modest delivery fee plus tip is more reasonable. Like with a pizza.
Also, the way Shipt is advertised is very misleading. It sounded like you were just paying for expedited shipping. Like with Prime. Which is why we subscribed.
