Pill Effect

So primarily I started taking birth control recommended by my gyno because of the high cramping and alot of flow going through my periods. It was to much to handle with the pain and too much blood would get released to the point where I would feel very dizzy and pass out. So I started taking it on December 24 of 2020 and today marking the 3rd period I’ve gotten since taking the pill no affect has came into me from this. I still have a lot of bleeding and bad cramping. How long does it normally take to start affecting my body or making changes??
