I heard getting them a baby doll and letting them feed and change the doll helps. But no first hand experience. Single mom over here. My friend did tell me not to hold the baby when you bring it home. It’ll create feeling of jealousy. It’s best to have the baby in the car carrier and let your oldest be the first to hold the baby.

I just had my second 3 weeks ago and didnt really do anything! We did get our other daughter a baby doll for Christmas so she understood what a "baby" was, and she will feed it the tiny bottles and stuff like that. She loves her sister though! I think it definitely helps that the new baby just sleeps all the time

Nothing really. I’d saygheres a baby in here” but that is about it. When I came home we told Elliott I had a “boo boo” and she couldn’t sit on me or have me pick her up (I had a c section) She was thrilled about her baby brother. She still loves him and just says “baby” and kisses him all day

I didn’t carry her for three weeks but I did pick her up a handful of times 2 weeks on. We did a lot of sitting on lap

One great tip! When they meet baby, have the baby be in a bassinet or swing and let them be first to hold the baby. I set up the nursery in our house early and out the baby clothes in the drawers. My daughter goes in the room now and picks up all the baby things and says “baby?” Also if they’re going to have to stay at an in laws or something while you are at the hospital have them do a couple practice sleepovers now!
