Quick Third Baby
So my due date was February 24th, and this is my third child. My first two came at 36 and 37 weeks and i had to be induced, so my doctors told me I wouldn’t make it past 37 weeks. But I made it to 38 weeks.
So at my 38 week appointment I was scheduled to be induced this Thursday the 18th. I wasn’t having contractions and my body wasn’t dilating much.
Sunday morning I had a dream that I was going to have the baby soon. I woke up from my dream to have irregular contractions. I timed the contractions and they weren’t consistent and I didn’t want to be sent home so I waited 1 more hour.
I went to labor and delivery and I tell them I’m in a lot of pain and having contractions. This is at 11:45, then while I am in triage and they’re getting my iv and everything, they check me and I’m 5cm.
So they get my blood work and test me for Covid (they stick those things so far up your nose I thought it was going to touch my brain) after that they said they’re going to move me to birthing room it’s 12:20.
I get to the birthing room and tell them I feel like pushing and they said I’m at 9cm already. And me being in pain and being a baby asked when I’d get my epidural and the nurse looked at me and was like there’s no time. I started shaking and freaking out because i honestly thought I couldn’t do it. I knew i had to but thought I couldn’t. The Dr rushed in got changed and I took control of my body, pushed twice and she was out. I had her at 12:39pm.
My biggest fear was giving birth without any pain medication and that’s what happened. It honestly was not as painful as i thought it was. I have heard people say they feel like they’re ripped apart or that it was excruciating. In my experience after the two pushes I couldn’t even remember what the pain felt like. After yesterday I learned two things.
1. Non medicated births aren’t as scary as some people make it seem
2. We’re all strong mamas, we got this!!
Good luck to all the mamas with upcoming deliveries
