Pulmonary embolism?
Hi all! I'm hoping somebody can you give me their experience with this or some peace of mind.
I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant, 5'3 and 170 pounds. Prior to my pregnancy I wasn't very active, never really been into exercise, but I wasn't overweight or anything.
I've been experiencing shortness of breath since probably about seven or eight weeks pregnant. It seems to have gotten progressively worse to the point where I can barely walk up a flight of stairs without being extremely out of breath. I also have a rapid heartbeat and occasionally chest discomfort/pain. I remember this happening with my last pregnancy but not until I was much further along, definitely not starting out at the very beginning of my pregnancy.
I talked to my doctor about a week and a half ago about this and he didn't seem very concerned but said he would refer me to a Cardiologist. I still have not heard from the cardiologist and I called my doctor's office today and left a message asking when I should expect a call or if there was an office I could call to make an appointment. I'm starting to freak out that I might have a pulmonary embolism or something crazy like that. I'm really trying not to go to a hospital or something like that tonight as we have a terrible snowstorm already starting, I have a two-year-old here at home and covid. I am considering going to the hospital possibly tomorrow if I don't hear from the doctor.
Anyone else experienced something like this?
