How to help kids connect with other kids
This is soooo random but I’ve been thinking about it for a while.
My niece is 14 and has essentially been home since COVID began last year. She’s never been the most popular kid but she always had a few friends and always enjoyed going to school. I’m beginning to worry about her mental state as far as socialization with kids her own age. We have gotten her out of the house a few times but I know for a fact it isn’t the same. She’s attempted to meet up with two friends. In which I offered to take them bowling or mini golfing. There’s even a pool in my complex with tables. It’s outdoors so I figured maybe the can eat pizza and play table games and it’s still semi covid safe. However, rightfully so I think the parents are weary and or just extremely busy so it’s been difficult for her.
Just wondering any other non creepy safe ways for her to connect with kids her own age ?
We also have a community board for my complex similar to Facebook, in which people sell things , posts questions or concerns and I toyed with the idea of seeing if parents had kids her age willing to socialize by the pool but then I eliminated that idea because it seemed very creepy to me 🤣
