Weight gain ⚠️

Lay

Hi ladies ftm, so I have gained a total of 40pounds ... My ob said they usually prefer 25-30 pounds .. I’m a little worried because for one I’m not even close to being done only 32 weeks and I’m sure I’ll still gain more , and secondly will that mean I’ll have a big baby , I eat breakfast usually little lunch but I’m not gonna lie I eat dinner a lot till I fall asleep I have food in my mouth lol .. I have a growth scan at 34 weeks . Did any one gain 40 or more pounds? And how do I manage to not gain more weight but still be healthy ? Any advice would be great

I gained 60 pounds with my first pregnancy (started at 135, dropped to 128 during the first two months and was 188 when I delivered my son). I delivered at 40 + 3 and my son weighed 7 pounds 8 oz. I’m pregnant with my second and have only gained roughly 30 pounds and I’m 39 weeks on Wednesday. Every pregnancy is SO different and you don’t know what you’re going to get until your in the thick of it.

I feel you, I gained 40lbs with my first. Already at 45ish with this baby. I lost it pretty quickly the first time so I'm not too worried. I don't have GD. But you are not alone, Pregnancy and weight are temporary!

I gained 50+ pounds with my first and she was 7 lbs 5 oz. I’ve already gained 30+ pounds during this pregnancy too. I’m not too worried about it it’s hard not to eat a lot when your stuck in the house during a pandemic

I came for the post and the reassuring comments! I just started my 27th week and have gained like 25lbs. I definitely eat more than I ever have in my life and I’m trying not to beat myself up about it. It makes me feel so much better to see some posts about women being surprised by how much they gained instead of “oh I lost 10lbs” or “I’m 39 weeks and have only gained 12lbs”

Honestly would recommend tracking your food if you’re concerned to make sure you’re not eating more than you need- if you already gained the recommended amount, you don’t need any additional “extra” calories to support the baby and can go back to your regular maintenance calories you were on pre pregnancy. That should limit any gain outside of actual baby weight.
