Do I miss him or the attention?

I was talking to someone who I was into, he was a great guy and everything but we stopped talking. I feel kinda down about it since we stopped and I wonder if I miss him or just the attention he gave me? How can I tell the difference?

If another guy who was interested in you gave you attention, would you feel fulfilled? If so, then you probably crave attention. If you find yourself constantly thinking about this guy, wanting to talk to him and tell him stuff, if he’s the one that pops into your head, I think you miss specifically him. Sometimes it’s really hard to find the line. I feel like I missed my ex, but really I just missed having someone there to talk to me. Not specifically my ex and his toxic tendencies lol.
