Implantation bleeding or period?

I am 12 DPO as of today. I started spotting yesterday afternoon. I’m not sure if this is my period or implantation bleeding. This happened my last cycle, but it got heavier. This is completely different this time around. I am only have cramps on my right side, major back pain, and the spotting is mixed with cm. Please help.

Implantation is only said to be the cause of any early pregnancy bleeding, when the source or cause of the bleeding can’t be found or determined. If you’re spotting this close to your period, it’s most likely due to a slight dip in Progesterone. I would just wait and see if your flow shows when it’s expected, and if it doesn’t, take a test. There are many reasons to find blood mid-cycle (irritated cervix from sex, stress, medication, ruptured nabothian cyst on cervix, old ovulation blood, period coming 'early', to name a few), so its very hard to pinpoint exactly why. Too many people automatically  jump to the conclusion or expectation that it was implantation bleeding, and more often than not, that is simply not the case. This app makes IB seem SO much more frequent than it actually is. Random mid cycle spotting is very common and often unexplained! 🤷‍♀️ Good luck!!!

It can only be said it’s implantation bleeding if you’re pregnant. Otherwise it’s just your period coming. I always had spotting around 12-13 dpo when my periods started and also had it when I was pregnant - same time frame. It was different from month to month and the only thing different when I was pregnant was the fact that I had a positive pregnancy test just before the spotting started.
