Spanking before a year old?

Question

I know this is a common topic on glow, but how do you guys feel about spanking an infant? 
I personally don’t spank my kids.  I don’t judge people that do tho.  I think a light tap is totally fine for older kids, but totally not for an infant.  I just saw a post of Facebook where people were commenting that they started spanking their kid at 10- 11 months old.  How do you guys feel about that?

I don’t know what a baby that age is capable of but that’s seems more like just abuse than a punishment fit for that age

A light tap isn’t the same as a spanking. A “tap” is like strumming your fingers on a table, or “patting” someone on the back for a job well done. Spanking, however, is actively hitting another human being. When “you” use honest language, (you- as in the general “you”), it’s easier to determine right from wrong. 
Yes, it’s okay to pat your child on the back. No, it’s not okay to hit a child, and especially not an innocent baby, or toddler. Physical punishment is not acceptable for adults, so let’s not normalize it for children. It teaches nothing except fear, and that violence is an appropriate, and acceptable way to handle something you disagree with.

I think spanking is abuse. It isn't justified to hit adults & the lines between punishment and parental anger get blurred quickly. 
Being hit teaches through fear, amd not through example. I think adults should be more emotionally mature & deal with their children patiently guiding them by example. There was an article about how Native Alaskan parents dealt with discipline in a healthy & positive way & parents do not lash out in anger in general- because they learned emotional moderation and maturity as children. 
I think spanking treats you to lash out in anger & mistrust others leading to poir quality relationships in the future.

NOOO. Fist off, you could injure your child. Second, kids don’t know how to process that (neither do many adults). Third, I have a hard time not classifying it as abuse. And overall I think it spells ✨ t r a u m a ✨.

I think theres a big difference between a tap and a spank and between bare butt and not. I remember being slapped and hardly remember being "spanked" which essentially was a tap on the hand or butt after I was being awful and I learned real quick. I dont know how to feel about spanking if people mean that but it's easy to cross that line where its abuse so it's better to avoid it.
