When did you start dilating?

I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant with baby number 2! I have a dr appointment tomorrow but I’ve had a lot of sharp pains down there. My best friend is currently 39 weeks and she said it’s called “lighting crotch” & that means my cervix is starting to soften.. i don’t remember when I did with my first pregnancy bc that was 4 years ago! Lol I think it’s a little too early for that though.. 
so when did you all start dilating?

Lightning crotch does not mean your cervix is starting to soften and it is usually just caused from the baby putting pressure on things

Lightning crotch has nothing to do with dilating. This is my 3rd and I've had it for months but not dilated at all.

I’ve had lightening crotch here and there since my second trimester. I told my dr and she said it just happens sometimes. So this isn’t your body getting ready to dilate, it’s just pressure.

Thanks y’all! Had my dr appointment today and she said I shouldn’t start dilating anytime soon maybe until 36 weeks! Also the sharp pains are due to him putting pressure down there. Pretty normal! Oh and he is head down already! 😁

The earliest I got checked, I think was 35/36. I was one cm. But dilation doesn’t mean anything, in my case 😂😂. I’ve walked around 3 and 4cm dilated for weeks before the baby decided to come.

I was 2 cm dilated from 35 weeks to 38 weeks with my second. Just because you start dilating doesn't mean baby is coming right away. You can stay at a certain point for weeks.

I’m not sure, I was 2cm at 37 weeks with my first, and 3 cm at 36 weeks with my second. I wasn’t checked any earlier than that with either one though so I have no idea. I was checked in this pregnancy at 30 weeks + 5 days and cervix was high and closed, I have an appointment in a couple days where I will be almost 34 weeks, so we shall see.

With my first I had lightning crotch from the moment my son went head down. I didn’t dilate, I was induced at 37 weeks and was “barely a fingertip” dilated.
With my current pregnancy, my daughter constantly punches me in the cervix & I get that “lightning crotch” feeling often, have since probably 25 weeks. I’m not dilating. 
Lightning crotch is from pressure or a jab from baby to your cervix, it in no way means your dilating.

I am following this because I would like to know too and I don’t remember with my kid’s either because they were 8 and 10 years ago.

My first I was 2cm at 37 weeks and with my second (9 years later) I was maybe 1 cm at 39 weeks when I was induced.
