Avoiding PPD/PPA

Kellie

Hey mommas... I’m hoping to get some advice and tips.

After the birth of my daughter a few years ago I developed PPD and PPA. It was an absolute nightmare and hands down the hardest thing I had been through thus far. There were a lot of factors that contributed (being a FTM, breastfeeding trouble, husband on night shift, hormone imbalances and a bladder infection to name a few).

Despite this, my husband and I didn’t feel our family was complete yet and I knew that eventually we would want to have another child.

Well, the time is here and I am now pregnant with our second (due in September). I’m excited to be adding to our family, but I am TERRIFIED of going through PPD again...especially now that I also have a toddler to care for on top of a newborn. It was immediately what I thought of after seeing that positive pregnancy test.

Anyway, my question to you all is...has anyone gone through PPD with one birth but managed to avoid it with consecutive children? I want to do everything in my power to not end up like I did last time.

Thank you so much for your reading this and any help you can offer.
