When is it to early to start the nursery?

My boys will be taking the master bedroom as there is just plenty of space and I don’t need so much space for my husband and I. So we have to move things around paint walls, add pictures etc. How early is to early to start doing everything for the nursery? And setting up the crib etc? I was thinking I wanted to start ordering everything and start at 25 weeks to do the room switch and paint and do everything.

Hi. With the current supply chain and manufacturing issues, I recommend at least ordering furniture and other necessities early. I ordered a kitchen table in early September, and after months of delays, it’s finally being delivered next week! My nursery dresser was also delayed about a month, and the crib I’m looking to order is out of stock. Good luck and happy decorating!

It depends on the person. We didn’t unpack everything or put the crib together till 3 hours after we brought my first home.

We started around week 15 with our nursery but I started slowly buying once we hit that 12 week safe mark. It’s our first baby and there are so many purchases to be made for baby that it can feel overwhelming. I’d say start whenever you feel is good for you and your partner. My husbands work ramps up soon so it was important for us to get things accomplished in the house and nursery sooner rather then later while we had the time and could enjoy the process together. Also, I prefer staggered purchases here and there vs a larger ‘all at once’ hit to your bank account. This way you pay for things as you go and it helps keep the stress of it down while feeling confident by getting prepared now so it’s less on you and your partner later. Similar to weddings ..closer to the day the more stress and last min things come up. It’s a good way to feel in control of your budget. Plus it’s fun so I’d say go for it! With my first, I started around 20 weeks cause we we’re sharing a room so I had completely redo everything, my second I didn’t start until I was 30 ish weeks only because we moved states and didn’t want to pack a bunch of nursery stuff, and with this on I started buying a pack of diapers every time I go shopping since I found out and started buying clothes and nursery stuff at 16 weeks after we found out what we were having. So there not really a certain time you need to do it just whenever you feel like it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I already no that even though we started “early” we won’t be done until the day before he arrives 😂

We started decorating very early, but we also got all of our big stuff during Black Friday and didn’t have anywhere to put it, so we just started the nursery!

I was 20sih weeks with my first when we bought a crib and put it together. I’d say start when ever you want. I cleaned out the nursery and bought decorations within a month of me finding out I was pregnant. I get a little excited. 😅
