IUD? Or no IUD?

Hello! I gave birth to my daughter 5 months ago, and I’m really searching for a good form of birth control besides the pill. The IUD is something I’ve been considering! I just wondered your experiences with it? Or if anyone could recommend it? Is it uncomfortable? Can you tell that it is there?

I 1,000% suggest MIRENA!!! I had mine inserted right after having my baby 10 years ago, I had it taken out and replaced with a new one when it was time. And then after the last expiration I had it taken out and we got pregnant immediately before I even had a period! So it definitely does not impact your future fertility. And it never hurt. And after the initial bleeding/spotting for a few weeks after insertion my period went away forever. After my husband and I are done having kids he is going to get a vasectomy but I still am planning on getting Mirena again either way for the simple fact of NO PERIOD! it’s been amazing.

I’m actually on my second iud. I got my first when I was 18 with a Skyla and now I’m 21 with a 5 year Kyleena. They all have they’re benefits but I do better on low hormones which is the difference between the Kyleena and Mirena. I love having an IUD so much! It gives me such peace of mind. The insertion process is uncomfortable but it can actually be easier for women who have had children. The first one I got I cramped quite and bit and was super uncomfortable for a while but the second one only hurt for a couple hours and then I was fine. I definitely recommend them to people who are leaning. After about a year or two your periods can become so much lighter or even go away at times. It’s not a guarantee but a possibility. With my iud my period is super light except on maybe the first day when I use a regular tampon as apposed to a light one. I love it a lot but still do some research and talk to your gyno for any other options you’d like to explore! Good luck!

Hi,
I just had mine removed 4 days ago. I’ve had the worst experience with my IUD. They put it in just under 2 months and I’ve bled the whole time. I did not experience spotting like the doc said I would.  The worst part for me was the clotting and how tired I’ve been since they put it in. They checked my anemia levels and said my levels were fine, but i was still experiencing the kind of tired you get after a long, exhausting day, except my whole day was like that. I’ve also experienced cramping which wasn’t normal for me. 
Now that it’s out, I’m still bleeding, and more clots are coming down, But, my energy level has improved slightly. It may be different woman to woman, but like I said, it was a really bad experience for me. For now, I’m waiting for my body to reverse back, which the doc said could take up to 2 cycles 😩. Please do your research on the pros AND cons. I did it based on how well it worked for a couple of my friends and their positive reviews.
